The Jungle

Who is Upton Sinclair?
   -Upton Sinclair is known as a champion of plitical reform, a progressive journalist, a novelist adn an activist, as well as the most important writen in America after the 19th century. He wrote "The Jungle", which made him known as the most "effective representative of American realism". He is also a strong socialist and a believer in a socialist economy.

What was happening economically adn socially at the time he was writing?
   -Industrial Revolution with social, economic, and political changes
   -Technological advances leading to factories and mass production (meaning families moved from farms to the cities and immigrants from all over the world moved to America looking for work ad an overall better life.)
